ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN STEEL FACTORIES

As part of the heat recovery from industrial process, Tecnoterm has recently developed a heat recovery system from coke oven flue gas within a steel manufacturing industry, dealing with all the phases of project, from engineering to construction in its own workshops, from on site installation to commissioning.

The residual thermal energy of coke oven flue gas, that is generally dispersed in the atmosphere, is herewith used in a heat recovery steam generator with thermal power up to 15 MWt ca. for the production of saturated or superheated steam (up to 20 t/h steam at the operating pressure of 40 barg).

Even though coke oven flue gas temperature is quite low (about 300-400 ° C), Tecnoterm heat recovery system has very high efficiency system and, at the same time, a compact size.

The saturated steam generator is water-tube type, natural circulation, complete with feedwater pumps group, economiser (ECO) for feedwater preheating, boiler cleaning system, instrumentation and safety devices.
In order to maximize the boiler efficiency, downstream economiser (ECO) a tail-end economizer (ECO2) for production of hot/superheated water can be installed.
The steam generator can be installed complete of flue gas line BOP (Balance of Plant): gas distributor with diverter bypass modulant damper and relative pneumatic actuator, ducts, textile expansion joints and ID flue gas fan (if any) with relevant silencer.

The customized project has been developed in accordance with the specific requirements of Customer application and manufactured based on standard and well prooven design.
The evaporator tube bundles and several components of the heat recovery system are pre-assembled in our workshop in transportable modules to be connected and then thermal insulated on site.

Currently in Italy the market of energy produced from renewable sources encourages the construction of biomass fired mini-power plants (200-300 kWel), fuelled by solid wood biomass: wet wood chips, bark, sawdust, etc.

Tecnoterm Energy proves to be present also in this market with the first small size heat recovery superheated steam generator from flue gas downstream a biomass combustion furnace!

The steam generator, fully in-house designed and manufactured, produces about 2000 kg/h of steam at approx 25 bar operating pressure, superheated at 350 °C ca., which feeds a steam turbine for power generation.

The steam generator is complete with economiser for feedwater preheating, steam superheater with intermediate de-superheater (spray type) and automatic boiler cleaning system by means of compressed air.

It is also equipped with the instrumentation and safety devices required by the norm EN 12952, in accordance with PED 97/23/EC, allowing the automatic unattended boiler plant operation for a period up to 72 hours (H72).

The heat recovery boiler is installed in an Italian plywood and particleboard panels manufacturer, where the wood residues (wood chips, sawdust, wood shavings, etc.) are exploited from an energetic and economic point of view, as they are used as solid fuel feeding a wood biomass combustion furnace.

The thermal power recovered from the combustion flue gas is used for the energy requirements of the wood industry production process itself.

In fact the thermal oil, heated within the boiler up to a temperature of approx 280 °C, feeds the several thermal consumers of wood panels production line (presses, resining, driers, etc.)

Tecnoterm Energy is also present in the market of Energy Efficiency (Energy Saving) within the wood processing industries!

The heat recovery boiler, fully in-house engineered, designed and manufactured, multi-tubular construction type consisting of vertical tubes convective bundle, it is supplied complete with external skin-casing, intermediate expansion joint, boiler automatic cleaning system (pneumatic hammer rapping system), lower hoppers for the collection of ashes and dust.

Moreover it is supplied complete with a tail-end combustion air preheater (flue gas/air heat exchanger), installed downstream the thermal oil heat recovery boiler, which allows to reach an outlet air temperature of approx. 150 °C.

The size of the heat recovery boiler is approx. 5 MW, of which the heat output at thermal oil is about 4 MW and the heat output at combustion air is about 1 MW.

It is also equipped with the instrumentation and safety devices required for the proper boiler plant operation.

HEAT RECOVERY STEAM GENERATOR DOWNSTREAM GAS TURBINE SOLAR TAURUS T70 (8 MWel)

The scope of supply consists of design, construction, installation and commissioning of a complete heat recovery system, starting from the connection joint with turbine exhaust outlet up to the stack outlet flange, including the steam generator and the exhaust gas complete line.

The saturated steam generator is water-tube type, natural circulation, consisting of an upper steam drum, convective evaporator tubes bundle and circulation pipes.
Due to the minimum required overall dimensions and the necessary large heat exchange surfaces, the specific technical solution of this generator consists in the fact that all the tubes in contact with the exhaust gas are finned type.

The steam generator is provided complete with feedwater pumps group, economiser (ECO) finned tubes type for feedwater preheating, exhaust gas bypass duct, diverter damper complete with pneumatic actuator and silenced main stack.

It is also equipped with instrumentation and safety devices according to PED Directive 97/23/CE allowing the automatic unattended plant operation for a period up to 72 hours (H72).

The saturated steam is used in the production process of Pulp&Paper mill.

In order to maximize the boiler efficiency, downstream economiser (ECO) a tail-end economizer (ECO2) for production of hot water is installed.

The scope of supply consists of design, construction, installation and commissioning of a complete heat recovery system, starting from the connection joint with turbine exhaust outlet up to stack outlet flange, including the steam generator and the exhaust gas complete line.

The saturated steam generator is water-tube type, natural circulation, consisting of an upper steam drum, POST-FIRING system complete of natural gas-fired duct burner and BMS (Burner Management System), water tube walls combustion chamber, convective evaporator tubes bundle and circulation pipes.

The steam generator is provided complete of feedwater pumps group, economiser (ECO) finned tubes type for feedwater preheating, exhaust gas distributor complete of diverter damper and relative pneumatic actuator, silenced bypass stack and silenced main stack.

The steam generator is also equipped with instrumentation and safety devices according to PED Directive 97/23/CE allowing the automatic unattended plant operation for a period up to 72 hours (H72).

The saturated steam is used in the production process of Pulp&Paper mill.
